We found a former country girl with long, straight hair, glasses and a big smile who needed to inject a serious amount of glam into her look and wardrobe.

Shawnee recently graduated from May 2009 from Baker University in Baldwin City, KS with a degree in Mass Media and Communications and a minor in English, and bravely started a career doing what she loves, photography.  We are all over helping a young business woman succeed and definitely wanted to get our hands on this girl.  She looked even younger than her age and an overall look that didn't give her the grown up professional style she needs to pull off this photography gig.

Shawnee willingly submitted to the Haute Weekly makeover team.  We met at Pinkie Couture, a new hair salon in downtown Overland Park, KS., owned by James Pillatzke.  Also on the team was makeup artist, Karen Hough, owner of Kaleidoscope.

After a short consultation about face shape, eye color, hair color and more, the team agreed on a look for Shawnee and set to task.  First on the list, color.  James started foiling to give Shawnee beautiful, rich color and highlights to take her fresh new look into spring and summer.

Next up, while the color processed, Karen got to work.  We had Shawnee wash and exfoliate with some of my favorite buffing beads by Peter Thomas Roth.  Shawnee has a bit of red to her complexion so Karen started with concealor with green tint to offset the redness.

The rest was pure artistry. Blending, highlighting, contouring and more.  This girl grew up in front of our eyes!

After processing was the part we were all excited for...the CUT!.  In a few quick snips James took off at least 4 inches right off the back length.  Then this stylist extraordinaire, often referred to as Edward Scissorhands, showed us just how he got that nickname.

It was amazing to watch the transformation.  It was so incredibly dramatic that I just kept STARING at Shawnee!  She came in this quiet sort of girl and came out a powerhouse business woman ready to take on the world.

The team of stylists was absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend them both.  And now I have a fab hair stylist, makeup artist and photographer for our next makeover or fashion show!
