The new pant length in capris

The runways for spring 2011 sported a variety of crop pants.  Mostly it seemed they were either just below the knee or just above the ankle.  Not mid calf like in the past.

We went hunting for a few examples to show you.

Cozy, easy fit, knit, crop pants at EllaMoss.com.  These are actually swatpants and I’m a big fan of the saying “sweatpants are for sweating in”.  But these offer a middle ground for those of you resistant to putting effort in to just run to the grocery store.  Belted at the waist for a bit of added fashion.  Pants are a blend of viscose linen, cotton and spandex.  At Ella Moss, $128

The Trouve’ crop pant at Nordstrom makes our list because of it’s relaxed, boyfriend styling. This pair of straight-leg chinos can we worn straight or cuffed. $78 at Nordstrom.com.  Casual and comfortable.  Wear with a t-shirt.  Dress up with a spring weight cardigan or shrug.

This cropped denim pant in by Tommy HIlfiger caught my eye. At $59.50 the price tag catches the eye as well. Not bad for a designer label, good fitting pant.

Keep in mind the width of the cuff my friends. A wider cuff may draw the eye in a way that isn’t flattering. I love the wide cuff look, but on the majority of us a more thin cuff is better. Don’t forget to keep an eye on your proportion. Try not to cut yourself in half with your clothes.

Not to forget my curvy girlfriends, here is a plus size version also at Macy’s, and per macys.com they are on sale for just $27.99!

Oh dear, John

John Galliano has certainly upset a large number of people thanks to a video released in which he is heard making remarks regarding someone’s race or religion. Galliano alleges that he was provoked, yet has finally issued a statement about the alleged offense.

Excerpt from the statement: “I have fought my entire life against prejudice, intolerance and discrimination, having been subjected to it myself. In all my work my inspiration has been to unite people of every race, creed, religion and sexuality by celebrating their cultural and ethnic diversity through fashion. That remains my guiding light.”

Also, according to Suzy Menkes of the NY Times, Galliano will be entering rehab.

What will happen to the designer’s post at Dior? No one seems to have that answer. But he is currently suspended. Who on earth would come close to filling the iconic shoes of John Galliano?

Jennifer’s new hair cut is the buzz

All the ‘net is a buzz about Jennifer Aniston’s new hair do. We don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Women cut their hair into new “Do’s” all the time. But if Jennifer sneezes some need to know what tissue brand she’s using. We snagged a photo to show off her shortened locks.

Wedding fever

The upcoming royal wedding causes brides gowns on the brain.  I took a peek at designer wedding dresses to find my princess-worthy pick.

While many dresses are stunning I doubt the queen will allow cleavage which puts many dresses out of the running. Too grandiose and the commoners will scream that the royal family wastes too much money.

This dress seems opulent without coming off as siren nor snob. The sleeve neckline is detachable into a strapless Organza ball gown with lace applique. The lace is embellished with pearls, crystals and sequins. Perfectly princess-worthy!

Oscars barely there

Let’s just put it out there and get passed it…there were a lot of boobies out last night.  Literally out there for all to see.  And it wasn’t pretty my friends.  Next to that were a few hot messes and a lot of boredom for this suburban mom trying to live vicariously through the stars.

Penelope Cruz has always been a secret crush of mine because she maintains a fabulous figure, is always smiling and dresses with such style.  Except for last night at the Oscars.  I love her dress from the floor up to the breast line.  Above that border was was too much exposure.  Baby brain perhaps, Penelope?

Had the neckline not plunged so far below I think this would have been my top pick for the outfits last night. Penelope your top was barely there.

Another miss, again, is Rita Wilson.  I don’t even know what to say about this hot mess other than it’s not her first, sadly. However a few points for a fabulous handbag.  Unfortunately too much for the dress as the two fought for attention.  Stylist on strike? Rita…your mind is barely there.

Then there is Nicole in Dior haute couture no less.  Her dress looks as confused as she.  At least she chose understated jewelry so as not to compete with everything else going on.  Your red carpet look is barely there.

Sorry ladies.  Better luck next time.

Part Deux

Several of Hollywood’s brightest stars were out last night for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.  Many had several events to attend and therefore graced us with an outfit change:

Rock the pony

Hot moms rejoice.  While I love having my hair down, waves flowing…there is something to be said, no – shouted about, when the runways give us the ponytail.

Be it the relaxed look at Georges Chakra, the side braid at Nicolas K, or the sleek and styled at DKNY (pictured in order below)…it’s good news for busy women.  And I can’t help but LOVE the messy side braids pulled together at the back as done at the Carlos Meile show (pictured last).

What do you think my friends? Are we going to rock this spring?

5 reasons for a facial

Being proactive about your skin care regimen early saves you from costly corrective procedures later.  Start in you mid to late 20’s with professional grade products.  Here’s why:

-Good products! An esthetician can pick the best products for your unique skin.

-A facial will balance the pH of your skin which helps keep breakouts away and can repair any pigment problems before they ever see the surface.

-Helps fight aging and promote circulation!   Necessary for good complexion.

-Skin care can be one of the cheapest maintenance items!  You can go to a school and get professional grade products with a relaxing hour long facial for less than $30 or look for weekly specials at local salons.  Many have plans for a variety of budgets.

-Keeps the stress away!!  Who knew one hour once a month could really relieve you from the stress of our lives?  It’s been a proven stress reliever not to mention who doesn’t like to be taken care of?  Pamper yourself because you owe it to yourself!

Big thanks to Danielle Byrnes of Midwest Anti-aging for providing us with these great answers and tips!
